| Violone by Anton Posch, Vienna, 1729 |
We are presently designing a violone based on the great
Viennese instruments of Posch, Thir, Leidolff and Stadlmann.
This violone is designed to be double bassist-friendly in its size, tuning,
and versatility. Early enough to be appropriate for the high baroque, it is also suitable for the classical period, as
most of the late 18th-century solo works were concieved for such an instrumet. It can be tuned in many ways, including
the Viennese classical tuning: F, A, d, f#, a. Frets are optional.
